Still Time 04:31
Still Time: And in the morning time I only wanted to know you touched the ground. It was a near perfect moment. Then in the evening the sun went down, in a near perfect moment. It’s all I ever wanted, it’s all I ever want. It’s all I ever needed, it’s all I ever want. It’s all I ever knew... And I hope you can make them realize, still time. And I hope you can make me realize there’s still time. It’s all we ever wanted, it’s all we ever want. It’s all we ever needed, it’s all we ever need. It’s all we ever knew... And I remember that morning when I only wanted to know you touched the ground. It was a near perfect moment. Later that day when the sun went down, it was almost a perfect moment. And I hope you can make them realize there’s still time. And I hope you can help me utilize still time. And I hope you can help us realize, we can still time... It’s all we ever wanted. It’s all we ever needed. It’s all we want to know.

Joel Peter: There is no song that I can write. There are no words to tell the tale. Of the people in my life; the ones who set the sails. I want to live for those farther than I have been. I want to live for those behind us. I want to live for those who came before us; and I want to live for those who need us now... Is this the song that I can write? Are these words to tell the tale? Of the people in all our lives... Not a single one of them never faltered; no. Not a single one of them never faltered; though, maybe God loves everyone... We’re all traveling in this cosmic dark and light; we have gone around the bend. We’re all riding on this endless ride at night. Well I pray that God loves everyone... What if we only spoke the truth? What if our spirit and our minds were naked? We’d see that we cannot live just for ourselves. I cannot live just for myself. I could have been born anywhere at all. We could have all been born anywhere at all. We are the moral of our story. We are the requiem. The engine of this moment. The engine of this moment... I want to live for those farther than I have been. I want to live for those beside us. I want to live for those who came before us; and I want to live for those who need us now. I want love for those who need it now. We want love for those who need it. We all. We all...

No Reason to Lie: I should not think when I cannot speak. I can barely breathe and I can’t sleep. But everybody is in the same dream; all numb and stretched out, can’t wake up and can’t scream. But we all need food and we all need air. We all want to feel like we belong somewhere. And we’ve all been lied to; we’ve all been untrue. Now it’s crazy for everyone. I think we should stop! Climb to the top of the mountain; look over the horizon. What can you see? Is it coming in waves; coming over the horizon? You can believe what I’m saying; cause I’ve got no reason to lie... I can’t run and I can’t hide from the clamor all around us and what I feel inside. We forget to remember what we have chosen to ignore; cause we shut down our brains when we can’t take it anymore. But I don’t want to run and I don’t want to hide. Want to face this together, if just this one time, stop! Climb to the top of the mountain; look over the horizon. What can you see? Is it coming in waves; coming over the horizon? I can believe what you say, if you’ve got no reason to lie... Is there anything; is there anyone that can make sense to everybody? And what are the truths that we share at the heart of the matter? Was it always here, will it always be; the madness borne of our insecurities? But while we can still think, while we can still see; we can dig in together, feel the earth on our knees. Feel the dirt under my fingernails; the lines on my face and my toes. I think what I’m trying to say here, everybody already knows... Climb to the top of the mountain; look over the horizon. What can we see? Is it coming in waves; coming over the horizon? We can believe what we say; if we’ve got no reason to lie...

Hemp Rising 05:24
Hemp Rising: Further on down the road; might have to reap what you sew. Further on down the road; might have to reap what you sew. “Those who know don’t say. And those who say don’t know”.. The left hand said to the right hand, “Who the hell do you think you are?” The right hand said to the left hand, “I think you’ve gone too far.” The donkey said to the elephant, “Can we count the money again? Count the money again..” Further on down the road; might have to reap what we sew. Further on down the road; might have to reap what we sew. I think it’s time to ask myself. To ask myself... What am I gonna sew? What are we gonna sew? Well, I don’t really know. But if I could do what I believe, it’d start with the seven leaf... Reaching up for the sun. Growing up towards the sky. Something for everyone; more than just gettin high. I think God put it here after giving it a try. I think God put it here after giving it a try...

Angus 04:30
Angus: Paint me a picture that comes alive; use every color that you have. Let it wash over me, cause we can’t go back. You never held anything from me, and I will always love you for that. And for all the times we laughed... You taught us so many things about life, like there was nothing to it. But I can’t see in the dark. It’s dark without you. You taught us so many things about love, like there was nothing to it. And I will always seek your heart. Draw me a line in the sand, cause I need something to follow. I can barely stand. Will I do everything I can? - Starting tomorrow; for everything that’s a part of this land, my wife, my son and my daughter... You taught us everything about love, like there was nothing to it. But I can’t see in the dark. It’s dark without you. You taught us everything about life, like there was nothing to it; and I will always seek your... I never knew you could say so much, hardly making a sound. Mean so much just being around. You spread your wings to catch the sun, and to change your color. But every once in a while we wondered, every once in a while we wondered… And in the wintertime you could play hide and seek for days, and almost never lose your sense of humor. You put your hands on my heart; and everyone you touched; you know who they are... Paint me a picture that comes alive; use every color that you have. Let it wash over me, cause we can’t go back. You never held anything from me, and I will always love you for that. And for all the times, all the times.. You taught us everything about love, like there was nothing to it. Now I can see you in the dark, like a shooting star. You put your hands on my heart, and everyone you touched will always seek your heart. I will always seek your heart…

Some Folks 03:55
Some Folks: Some folks talk, and you wish what they were saying was true. Some folks talk; and you’re so glad they’re lying. Some folks walk, like they know just where they’re going. Some folks walk; and they think you’re walking right behind them. Some folks kneel at an altar made of stone. Some folks kneel to a man upon a throne. Some folks believe what they think is really real is just a part of it... But we all need, we all feel. We’re not quite sure what isn’t there or what is real. We want to believe someone knows. We want to believe that we are one of those. And we want to know if what we think is real. We want to believe it’s more than just a tiny little piece of it.... Some folks read only between the lines. Some folks read only the lines. Some folks ride; ride like the wind. Some folks break the wind... Some folks dream. Some folks cry. Some folks scream, and some folks sigh. Some folks are we. Some folks am I... We all need, we all feel. We’re not quite sure what isn’t there or what is real. We want to believe someone knows. We want to believe that we are one of those. We want to take hold; we want to take aim. About half the time we just want someone to blame. Let’s get up off the couch, and down to the ground. Put your hands in the Earth; let’s face what we have found. In a way it’s so simple, there should be no doubt. If we put our heads together we could figure it out. We want to know if what we think is real. We want to believe it’s more than just a tiny little piece of it...

Jerry and Toni from Reno Part I: I thought I saw your silhouette. Heard the footsteps. A painted shadow moving on the wall. “Sortir de l’obscurite; dans la lumiere.”* Nobody’s perfect. Not even close. Close the distance. Right the rain. God, please forgive me; here I go again... All I ever wanted; all I ever knew. I can feel it; it is here and all around us. There may be something we can do. “Well it’s all about forgiveness. Watch the animals that never had to know repentance and remorse for reactions, and actions. For generations we just didn’t know. But everything is clear right now. And everything is pure; and simple as the wind through the trees. We could go sailing on the breeze....” Let your mind wander. Nothing is exactly as it appears to be. You see, the truth is in the fiction. And the fiction, it is in the truth. We’ve all got pieces of the answer. The answer is, we’ve all got pieces of the answer. The answer is, we’ve all got pieces of the answer. We’ve all got pieces of the truth. Together, for as long as it is; we could go sailing on the breeze. The stars are just a split second away. And I love you forever; when I roam and when I stay. The stars are just a split second away.... “Sortir de l’obscurite; dans la lumiere.”* “Iz temnoty v svet.”* “dans la lumiere”... (*Translations: “Out of the darkness; into the light”...)

Always Will 04:46
Always Will: And are you standing in the wind? Is anything real? And everything stands still. Everything stands still... “Change... Be the Change...” And are you standing in the rain? Here it comes again. And everything moves like spinning wheels. Faster and faster it reels.... Are we standing in the rain? Is anything real? Say if it is so. Stay if it is so... Is anything real? And are we standing in the wind; while everything stands still. Everything Always Will....

Heart of the Matter: Are we sailing out to sea? Are we where we’re meant to be? Were we to be just who we are? And are we close or far away, from the heart of the matter? And everything I am; am I nothing without you? Are you The Nothing or The Everything? And is that the same at the heart of the matter? Did you really say what they say you say you said? And did you really mean what they say you say you said? An eye for an eye, for an eye for an eye... I can’t believe it. Can you believe it? I think it was a man; let his heart speak through his hand. I think it was a man; let his heart speak through his hand. And I am one of those; let his heart speak... Everything I am; am I nothing without you? Are you the nothing or the everything? And are we the same at the heart of the matter?...

{Videos for Joel Peter and Part II}
This is the 8th full length release from legendary Winterhawk guitarist Jordan Macarus; whose guitar playing will still amaze as these captivating songs speak to the Heart of The Matter for people of all races, creeds, colors and indoctrinations...

"The latest album by the latest incarnation of Jordan Macarus, is both his edgiest and "poppiest" release to date. In this collection of 12 songs, Macarus reaches out to his cult-like faithful followers and a younger generation that may not be familiar with his soul full of angst and regeneration. Some things are strikingly different with this set of tunes. Macarus touches the lower registers of Robbie Robertson and Gordon Lightfoot, which may be the result of age and years singing in the mid-range. There are hints of Toad the Wet Sprocket for the 90's crowd. And a little bit of Umphrey's-like changes for the millennials and festival-goers. For those that need their Jordan fix of mind-bending solos, there's plenty of that. But also some cuts with acoustic guitars, nylon strings, and no leads at all (WHAT ??). Macarus is the type of guitarist that makes most of us players uncomfortable....if only because he is so good. There are times the changes are so fast and so surprising that you wish he'd give us 8-12 bars of a Hotel California-like or Aqualung solo, just so you can play it over and over in your head. Nonetheless, there is a pretty neat mix of Macarus' influences (metal, jazz, folk, blues, Irish, and native American) here, and several that are on the edge of anthems that have the opportunity to bring some unlikely demographic groups together for some heavy thought and a rockin' good time." - Michael Tobias

Bios:
Guitarist, Songwriter Jordan Macarus began his music recording adventures in 1978 with the hard rock band Winterhawk. The 1982 release, “Revival” has since reached a cult status among melodic hard rock fans across the globe: - "Simply one of the greatest guitar oriented hard rock albums of all time... Jordan Macarus can be really proud of his stunning abilities in guitar playing (and composing as well). " - Just Real Diamonds blog. Winterhawk has performed in Greece, Germany, and many concert venues, including Chicago’s Riviera Theatre and The Aragon Ballroom. They’ve taken the stage with Jefferson Starship, Pat Traverse, Budgie, Steppenwolf and Black Oak Arkansas to name just a few...

Beyond the Winterhawk story is the Jordan Macarus story. Branching out beyond hard rock, he has also written from the bass guitar, drums, acoustic guitar, piano, and the lyric. His eighth full length recording, “Heart of the Matter” incorporates all of these approaches, with a clear emphasis on articulating each of the songs. He is joined on this dynamic project with stellar performances by bassist Geoffrey Lowe and drummer Larry Ortega. This record was produced by Jordan Macarus, Christine Tobias and Winterhawk “Revival” Producer Craig Williams.

Geoffrey Lowe Bass
An eclectic modern bassist who spent his formative years in Colorado playing violin, guitar, piano, and basses, Geoffrey relocated to Chicago to work with a wide variety of players and composers. Since then, he has toured Europe with both jazz and classical groups, has performed live with artists including Ben E King, Lynda Carter, Bruce Dickinson, Bob McGrath (Sesame Street), Noel Paul Stookey, Ginger Baker, Dave Weckl, John Blackwell, Ian Paice, The Shirelles, The Platters, The Coasters, Barrett Deems, Monty Alexander, David Fathead Newman, Clark Terry, Clarence Gatemouth Brown, Frank Wess, James Moody, Freddie Cole, Gavin Harrison. He has appeared on recordings alongside David Sanborn, Danny Brubeck, David Spinozza, Joel Rosenblatt, Buddy DeFranco, Steve Cole, Barrett Deems, Ercison Holt,Chris Clifton, Paul Wertico, Lisa Lauren & Fareed Haque, just to name a few. Some of Geoff’s musical highlights include performances at the London Palladium, the Chicago Jazz Festival, The North Sea Jazz Festival, the Montreaux Jazz Festival, the International Cultural Festival (in Hue, Vietnam), the Park Tower Blues Festival (in Tokyo, Japan), and the Spoletto Music Festival in Italy.

Larry Ortega - Drums
Larry Ortega's drumming is best described as "controlled demolition". Larry is an explosive player with staggering technique and boundless energy. Larry provides the rock solid backbone that not only supports the music happening on stage but matches its intensity. An accomplished songwriter as well, Larry's creative spark ensures that the band maintains its dynamic energy whether playing a quiet ballad or a full-bore rock onslaught. A lifelong "southsider", Larry is well-known around Chicagoland and maintains a busy performance schedule with several high-profile area bands. Larry has toured the world with local legend Joanna Connor, and has performed with artists including Luther Allison, Screamin' Jay Hawkins, Matt "Guitar" Murphy, Wild T (formerly with David Bowie), The Buckinghams, and many others. Larry is an explosive player with staggering technique and boundless energy.

Collectively, Geoffrey Lowe and Larry Ortega have toured the world and played nearly every kind of music there is, one song at a time. The Macarus, Lowe, Ortega collaboration is extraordinary and not to be missed..!
